How To Visit

LSSM is run by a staff of dedicated, hard-working volunteers. As we all have day jobs, we do not currently have sufficient staff coverage available for the museum to have regular open hours. Instead, we handle visits by appointment. Most of our volunteers' employers are very understanding and supportive of our activities with the museum, so with a few days' notice, we can handle almost any schedule, though afternoons are much easier than mornings. Also, kids are welcome!

Please contact us via our contact form, by sending email to info@lssmuseum.org to schedule an appointment. Please give us a general idea of about how many people will be in your party and when you'd like to stop by. One of our volunteers will reply as soon as possible. Please remember to check your spam folder if you don't hear back from us within a day or two.

Our address is 924 4th Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068. This is about fifteen miles north of downtown Pittsburgh, and is considered a part of the Pittsburgh metro area. We are about ten minutes' drive from the Allegheny Valley exit of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Lodging

New Kensington's historic Bloser Mansion has two suites that are available via Airbnb here and here. It is located at 479 5th Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068, which is just a few blocks from our museum. This beautiful, newly-renovated facility is run by friends of ours, so be sure to mention us when you stop in!

Cost

One important aspect of LSSM's mission is that it remain totally free. No one will be denied an experience here just because they don't have a few dollars in their pocket. That said, it does cost real money to run our museum, and these costs are borne by our volunteer staff from our own pockets. We do this as a labor of love. We request, but do not require, donations in the form of cash, checks, or electronically via PayPal.

Your donations make it possible for us to restore and maintain our systems, produce educational materials, scan and preserve technical documentation, and even, literally, to keep the lights on.

Checks may be made out to “Museum of Applied Computer Technology”. Our PayPal address is “donations@mact.io”, or use the “Donate” button below.

To be clear, the museum is free, but donations are needed and appreciated.

Another way to support our museume is to purchase swag! We have great swag that is available through our Teespring shop. We hate cheap T-shirts as much as you do; we've selected only premium shirts for our LSSM swag.
